We're Engaged!!

As many of you already know, we got engaged this weekend while back in Medina! We're both extremely excited to start our new life together, and as many people have noted, stop living in sin :) We're most likely having a large ceremony and reception in Ohio next February. Although planning anything, let alone a large wedding, with the Army is difficult, I'm determined to have this wedding! If anyone has any suggestions/advice, especially regarding how to plan a wedding with the Army, please let me know! Here's a few pictures of my ring and us after Fernando proposed. We were heading to House of Hunan in Medina to celebrate my birthday with Connie, Abby, and Gwen and then to Connie's for cake anyway, so it ended up being an engagement celebration also!

Love you all!

Homemade Sugar Scrub

I love sugar scrub, it exfoliates your skin, and leaves it so soft, however it's super expensive (Burt's Bees is around $13 a container). I knew it couldn't be too difficult to make, and since I've been experimenting with making other things (bath bombs) I was sure I could figure it out. Well it turns out its super easy and cheap to make and it makes a great gift! So I thought I'd share with you all!

Sugar Scrub Recipe
Equal parts brown and granulated sugar
Little bit of olive oil (just enough to wet the mixture)
(Add scent if you choose)
Mix well!

Super easy right!? You can add essential oils for scent if you'd like, I used both lavender essential oil and some vanilla extract for mine, and it smells great. Also, you can put the scrub in any kind of container you would like but I used an old salsa container (my boyfriend is Mexican so we go through salsa like crazy). I just peeled the labels off, washed it, and spray painted the lid.

I hope everyone is doing well, and I'll see those of you who are in the NE Ohio area in a few days! Love you all!

More Kansas Adventures

So we explored Kansas a little more recently. We went to Wamego, which isn't far from where we live, they have the house used in the original Wizard of Oz. We also went hiking on this awesome looped trail. 6 miles for the long route, 3 for the short. We live in north east Kansas so it's actually pretty hilly, Kansas gets flatter as you go west. Last we went to this beautiful lake right after it snowed a few weeks ago, I love lakes in the winter!
Ding dong the witch is dead!

bonus picture... our apartment door for Christmas, I love decorating for the holidays!

2 miles through the trail

Bridge at beginning of trail. Kansas State using this stream for research.

Lake Pottawatomie

old limestone house (they're everywhere in and around Ft.Riley) Kansas State uses this one for wildlife research. The red building is a bird watching room with a glass front.

The Blog I Thought I Posted but Didn't... Colorado.

So for Fernando's birthday in September we went to Denver, Colorado and had a awesome time. These are some of our pictures! Sorry they're not in order!

They ran right by me!

Fernando: "Come on Taliban, I know you're up there"
Me: baby we're in Colorado, the Taliban isn't here.
Fernando: "HOW DO YOU KNOW!!??"

Medina

So I'm pretty sure everyone who cares already knows, but just incase I missed anyone, Fernando and I will be in Medina at the end of this week for my birthday. So if you want to see us let me know!

My New Obsession

So my newest obsession is a website called Pinterest. I know I'm a little behind on the hype, but I had to wait a month so I could actually join (due to the large number of people trying to sign up). It's an online pin board, saves paper and space! I love it for organizing my ideas into one place, and it's great for finding new ideas (especially crafts)! So here's mine if you care to look! http://pinterest.com/thoosan1178/
